Grey Cigar Ash

"  After lighting [a] cigar, look at the ash. According to most cigar experts, a white ash is better than a grey one. This is not merely an aesthetic issue; better soil produces whiter ash and more taste. Soil can be manipulated through fertilization, but too much magnesium is added to the mix, the ash will flake....Gray ash may hint deficiences in the soil, thus affecting the flavor."  Cigar companion (pg. 156) Photo by Nejra1
